Featured on Sew Modern Kids. Well isn’t this dress a real beauty and after three years of selling the pattern, the designer decided to offer it for FREE. The Knot Dress was one of the very first sewing patterns that she designed and has since been revised and updated. It has no zipper or button closures, but has ties at the shoulders, back, and skirt, which makes it a super easy pattern to sew and a perfect project for a beginner sewer.

They rest on your shoulders but then just sort of skims the rest and hopefully you’ll get a bit of breeze and keep as cool as possible. The simple styling of the dress also allows you to easily lengthen or shorten it as needed. Simply continue the side seams on in a straight line ass needed if your little girl prefers a longer dress or is taller.
The free girls dress sewing pattern is available in 5 different sizes to suit from a 12-18 months, up to age 8.
It’s the perfect dress to give to young members of your family or friends. When they open this gift as a present on a special day we’re sure they’ll be super happy. Soft, comfortable to wear, fun, stretchy and perfect for any casual day out, this pattern and the dress could become a staple in her wardrobe.

It can be difficult to sew clothes, we won’t deny it, because fitting can sometimes be a challenge. Especially with children – they grow so fast that if the fit was a little too snug, in no time, it will be too tight and can’t be worn again. However, a lot of these issues are not a problem with this easy dress pattern. Although it’s designed for a woven (non-stretch) fabric, it has many of the benefits of a knit dress.
This is a simple a-line style halter dress that includes a fun ruffle at the neckline and ties that crisscross in the back. The front bodice is partially lined and the upper back is elasticized for comfort. Sew up this dress in just an hour or two and make a little girl in your life very happy! The front bodice would look great embroidered with a design or a monogram as well.
Featured on Sew Modern Kids. This lovely, dreamy dress for girls comes in sizes from 6 months to 11 years, where the pattern is free from 6 months to 3 years. For the other sizes from 4 years to 11 years, you can purchase the pattern from the designers’ online store.
This pretty dress has an A-line shape and a cute Peter Pan collar. Depending on the fabric that you choose you can make this lovely dress look modern, you can use light or solid fabric, or you can experiment with different kinds of print to make it magical or whimsical. You can even make it in a romantic or classic style.
Featured on Sew Modern Kids. This dress has a gentle gathering on the front bodice, a rounded “V” neckline, and gathered skirt. The halter strap closes with snaps and the back closes with a zipper. The designer suggests that you make it in everyday fabrics for a lovely summer dress or make it in special occasion fabrics, perhaps with a lace overlay, for a beautiful formal dress.
This project is suitable for a beginner sewer and the pattern is available in girl’s size 7.

Featured on Sew Modern Kids. A Pinafore is an Australian name for this type of garment. The designer is originally from Australia and as she says “it was very common to see little girls running around in loose-fitting pinafores (also referred to as a pinny) during the hot weather”. It’s a very quick and simple dress to make and can be shortened to wear as a top, and can also be used as a top layer over a t-shirt and leggings too. Because of the loose fitting style, you can get plenty of wear from this both in summer and winter. The pattern comes in four different sizes from 12 months to 4T.
Featured on Sew Modern Kids. There is no pattern to download and assemble for this dress, just a set of instructions on how to draft up a pattern right onto the back of the fabric itself, based on simple measurements. It’s going to be a nice style for toddlers and younger children.
The Strawberry Vanilla Halter Neck Dress is super cute with the halter-neck and the lined bodice. It looks great on and is pretty easy to make. You can make this one of two ways, either with the halter neck or with crisscrossing ties on the back.
The Good Deeds Dress was born out my dear friend Becca's frustration with what is known as a pillowcase dress. We were sewing up a few dresses for Dress a Girl Around the World and while simple and sweet the pillowcase style was just not what she was looking for. She told me what she wanted, an easy to sew and easy to wear dress that looked cute on its own but would be easy to embellish. A few days later The Good Deeds Dress was born. Sizes range from 12m to 14yrs.
Featured on Sew Modern Kids. If you are new to sewing clothes then this one is a nice easy dress to start with. No fiddly zippers or buttons, no difficult fitting issues, just a simple pull-over loose fitting dress with some elastic – easy!
If your daughter happens to wear size 4T, you can download a free size 4T pattern for this flutter sleeve sundress. However, if you need a pattern in a different size then the designer will show you how, using an existing t-shirt as a template to draft your custom fit dress pattern.
Featured on Sew Modern Kids. This A-line shaped dress helps give it some twirl factor and the ruffles on the sleeves and hem are the perfect detail added to the simple shape. The designer finished the dress off with a gold fabric covered button, but you could use whatever you’d like.

The One Yard Twirly Dress is a perfect first dress to sew. Instructions are easy for beginners and the fabric is very forgiving, so even if you aren't an expert at sewing, you will be able to make this dress and it will look super cute on! This free pattern and instructions are available for toddler size 3T. Sizes from 2T to girls 10 are available to buy.
Featured on Sew Modern Kids. This dress is easy to sew and yet the finished garment looks like something that would take a lot of effort. It’s also very easy to put on the child and take off, and if she spills some sauce on one side she can just flip the dress over and put it on from the other side. It’s totally reversible so it’s two different dresses in one. No wonder the first name that came to mind for the designer was the Zen Dress.
