Here’s The Sweet Simple Dress, which is a FREE pattern for newborns (0-3 months). It’s described by the awesome designer Allison Allsop of Freshly Completed as a simple dress with darling pleated puff sleeves. It’s an easy speedy sew, perfect for a first project or a quick afternoon sew. It requires no zippers or buttons and easily slips over the head.
For her dress pattern, the designer recommends you use lightweight fabrics such as cottons, cotton blends, and linens. For a new look, she says also you might like to try knit fabrics – though knowledge of sewing with knits is recommended and not included in her pattern. And also sizing down the pattern is also recommended with knit fabric. The seam allowances are included in the pattern and are 1/2″ unless otherwise stated.
What you will need to make the Sweeet Simple Dress:-

- 12″ of 1/4″ elastic,
- Dress pattern cut out, lined up, and taped together,
- Thread,
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
The pattern includes eight pages of step-by-step directions with pictures to help guide you. There are also five pages of pattern that you will need to cut out and tape together.
