Pleated Flutter Sleeve Dress FREE sewing pattern (size 4T)

Here’s the Pleated Flutter Sleeve Dress sewing pattern in size 4T, from the talented and generous designer It’s Always Autumn. Autumn has given us all this wonderful and pretty dress pattern free of charge. Thank you, Autumn.

This dress pattern is actually a modification of another of the designer’s dress patterns. Previously she shared another free pattern, this time for the Flutter Sleeve Dress (Or Tunic) in girls size 4T that has a gathered elastic neckline. It’s a very easy sew that doesn’t take much fabric, and it’s been one of the designer’s most popular sewing posts.

So Autumn decided this time to add a pleated neckline. She says the pleats are just as easy (maybe even easier!) than the gathered elastic neckline, and they give the dress a slightly fancier look. She also added a color-blocked panel at the bottom, which we think looks just fabulous.

This new dress still has the puffed flutter sleeves and A-line shape of the original dress. But because the neckline isn’t elastic, she added a simple button closer in the back to make sure it would fit easily over her daughter’s head.

Autumn says the pattern size is fairly flexible – her daughter is starting to wear 5T in commercial clothes, but the 4T pattern still fits her just fine. She did add about an inch of length to the original dress.
