This is the Little Luna Circle Skirt FREE sewing pattern from the designer 5 Out Of 4. The pattern comes in lots of sizes from 0-3 months to 14 years.
All little girls love to twirl. The Little Luna Circle Skirt is the perfect addition to your kids’ capsule wardrobes. It’s a quick and easy sew and they’ll be twirling in no time.
The Little Luna Circle Skirt actually comes in two lengths – above knee and knee. A tutorial includes shortening and lengthening directions. There’s also a fabric waistband that can be made with or without elastic. And you have an option for an exposed elastic waistband. There are three cutting options – double fold, single fold (give two side seams), single layer (perfect for color blocking!). And for the finishing options, there is the hem, bias tape, or FOE.
This pattern requires 2-way knit fabric with at least 30% horizontal stretch. Fabric choice will impact how your skirt looks in a big way. Light to medium weight fabrics (rayon spandex, brushed poly, bamboo lycra, lighter jersey) will drape and lay closer to your body. Heavier weight fabrics with more structure (Ponte, Scuba, Liverpool) will flare out more from your body, also making the skirt appear shorter.
Waistband fabric requires a knit fabric with at least 50% stretch and must contain lycra for a good recovery. If your fabric does not meet these requirements you may not be able to get it over your hips or it will loosen as you wear it and your skirt will fall down. The pattern piece is drafted for 95/5 cotton lycra. Other fabrics will work if the requirements are met but may require adjustments in length.
The pattern comes in SIXTEEN sizes as follows:-
This listing is for a downloaded pdf sewing pattern, not a finished product. Your downloads will include a professionally drawn pattern with trimless pages and layers.
The pattern pieces included are formatted for 8.5 by 11, A4 (typically outside of the US), and A0 printers. The designer has even included a projector file so all of the pieces are on one page! Please remember to not use the A4 pattern unless you are located outside of the US and own an A4 printer and A4 paper. The A0 pattern is specifically designed for large format printing.
The separate tutorial download includes hyperlinks to help you navigate to whichever options you’re interested in doing. It also includes professionally drawn images for each tutorial step as well as pictures for steps that might be a little tricky. The designer takes great pains to make the tutorial as clear as possible! They’ve even included links to their YouTube channel, where you can find video tutorials on certain steps.
