Swim Trunks FREE sewing pattern + video (3mths to 10yrs)
This is the Swim Trunks FREE sewing pattern + video from the talented and generous designer Heather Handmade.
Now is your chance to learn how to make a swimsuit for kids with this free swim trunks sewing pattern. This easy sewing project is for babies, toddlers, and kids with lots of sizes of patterns available!
Yes, as the designer says – it’s time for summer and swimming!
The designer has made lots of swim trunks for her kids over the years at different ages and sizes, and she has now finally perfected her free swim trunks sewing pattern so that you can benefit from years of her sewing knowledge.
This is a beginner-friendly sewing pattern since it’s just an elastic waist.
The elastic waist is easier to sew and comfortable to wear.
The designer says that her kids didn’t care if she made the Swim Trunks with a flat waistband or an elastic waist. However, the added bow drawstring keeps the swim trunks looking cool.
Whenever the designer makes swim trunks she uses a woven microfiber fabric or board short fabric. She has also cut apart adult swim trunks to use the fabric, and that worked very well.
The pattern comes in FOURTEEN sizes from 3 months to 10 years, as follows:
- 3 months,
- 6 months,
- 9 months,
- 12 months,
- 18 months,
- 2T,
- 3 years,
- 4 years,
- 5 years,
- 6 years,
- 7 years,
- 8 years,
- 9 years,
- 10 years.
Please note that the baby and toddler sizes, 3 months to 18 months, are just trunks with no lining, and the child sizes, 2 to 10, have both trunks and a lining.
This tutorial shows you how to make swim trunks with a lining, however, the designer says if you want to make a pair of swim trunks without the lining, you can just skip those steps.
