Knot Bow Romper pattern.

Here’s a Knot Bow Romper pattern for toddlers and girls which is completely free. It’s super comfy and cozy because the designer has made it with knit fabrics, which allows your girl to wear this and be super active.

The Knot Bow Romper pattern comes in sizes 2-8 for girls. Sizing is based on the standard American sizing. You can use a variety of knits including jersey knit, interlock knit, french terry, and cotton lycra. However, there is no stretch requirement on the fabric since it fits pretty loose.

This pattern is easy to work with the designer describing it as a quick sew, like one hour from cutting to finish.

The designer has added some great tips for sewing with knits, as follows:-

  • Use a ballpoint for stretch needle.
  • Use polyester thread. You may also use stretch thread in the bobbin which will help prevent popped seams.
  • Use either a stretch stitch or zigzag stitch for seams unless otherwise noted.
  • A double needle is helpful for professional-looking hems.
  • Use a walking foot when sewing with knits. This will help them to feed evenly without stretching or getting wonky.
  • Do not pull on the fabric as you sew. Gently guide.
  • If your fabric is a little wonky or stretched after hemming, hit it with a little steam with an iron and it should smooth right out.
