Ruffled Shorts Girls sewing pattern (2-12 years)
This is the Ruffled Shorts Girls pdf sewing pattern from the designer Felicity Patterns.
The designer says these super cute shorts are easy to sew and can be made in a variety of fabrics.
The shorts feature a frill around the leg and an elastic pull-on waist with an optional tie belt.
The frill can be finished with a plain rolled hem or babylock edging if you have a machine that can do this; alternately a lace edging or fancy machine embroidery stitch can be used.
The shorts are designed to finish at upper thigh length.
The designer rates her sewing project as suitable for novice seamstresses who have some sewing experience. She says only plain sewing skills are required and being able to use a hemming foot would be helpful. You should pay careful attention to correct seam allowances and neatness is obviously important. You should follow the sewing tutorial closely to get a perfect finish.
For the fabrics the designer recommends that you use medium weight and lightweight cottons e.g. denim, drill, poplin, homespun and similar fabrics. Minimal stretch knits e.g. cotton single knit jersey is also suitable.
