This is a really cute small-sized backpack for toddlers up to 5 years old.

This is a great project that’s easy to make and is therefore perfect for beginner sewers. The video tutorial will show you what to do every step of the way.

When you have finished making your very own DIY Toddler Backpack it will measure approximately 7⅛” (18 cm) wide by 8″ (20 cm) high by 4″ (10 cm) deep.

Seam allowances are 3/8″ unless otherwise specified.
What’s needed to make a DIY Toddler Backpack:
- 1/4 yard of outer layer fabric (quilting cotton),
- 1/4 yard of contrast color fabric (quilting cotton),
- 1/4 yard of lining fabric (quilting cotton),
- Interfacing (Fusible Fleece – 987F Fusible Fleece or Vilene H630),
- Interfacing (Mid-weight woven – Pellon SF-101 Shape Flex’ or ‘Vilene G700’),
- One 16″ (40 cm) strip of ⅜” (1 cm) wide elastic,
- One 14 mm magnetic button,
- One 49″ (124 cm) strip of 1″ (2.5 cm) wide webbing strap,
- Two 1″ (2.5 cm) wide triglides slides,
- Two 1″ (2.5 cm) wide D rings,
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
