The Dexter the dog sewing pattern is labelled “skill level intermediate” but it’s a pattern that is very easy to follow. To help explain every step along the way the designer has added lots of illustrations to help you make this cute plush animal. Also, this pattern is available in three languages English, French and Dutch and soon more languages will be added.
With a full-size pattern, you can make a dog 35cm / 14 inch long. There is no scaling needed, just print, cut and sew. But the good thing is that if you want to make a smaller dog, then you just have to print the pattern out at a smaller percentage (80% 90% etc).
This pattern does not have a seam allowance included on the pattern pieces as standard, so you can add the seam allowance you are most comfortable with using, perhaps depending on whether you are sewing by hand, by machine or with a serger.
To sew this amazing little friend for your child, Dexter the dog, you will need:
- Fabric for the body (it can be a combination of fabrics if you want ears, paws or any other part in a different color)
- Stuffing (sponge, cotton, wool…)
- Basic sewing supplies
- A sewing machine.
