Bonnet Hat sewing pattern (Preemie to 3 years)

Isn’t this a really adorable bonnet?

It’s a super versatile bonnet pdf pattern that can be made with knit or woven fabrics. The designer has made it reversible and has finished it with double folded bias tape at the edges, and has made a simple tie closure to secure.

The pattern comes in sizes preemie to 3 years, as follows:

  • Preemie,
  • Newborn,
  • 3 months,
  • 6 months,
  • 9 months,
  • 12 months,
  • 18 months,
  • 24 months,
  • 3 years.

The designer, Lauren from Peanut Patterns, says that for the main/lining fabric you have the option of using either knit or woven fabric for the bonnet. The knit can be jersey, interlock, or any double knit. The woven fabric can be quilting cotton, chambray, or any light to medium weight cotton. Lauren also says the main and lining pattern pieces need to be the same type of fabric. You cannot use knit for the body side, and woven for the lining.

If you would like to add this pattern to your collection then you can click on the link below. The pdf pattern is layer compatible and the instructions/tutorial have real step-by-step photos, and detailed steps including what you will need. A seam allowance of 3/8” (1cm) is included.

The pattern is compatible with all standard print paper sizes (A4, A3, US Letter, and Legal). It will print on multiple sheets that will need to be taped together. Lauren has tried to minimize the headache by including lots of colors/markers when piecing together. You do not need a serger, all you need is a sewing machine that can do a zig-zag and a straight stitch.
