The Tropisch Dress FREE sewing pattern (sizes 3-6)

The designer of this FREE sewing pattern for The Tropisch Dress says – a staple of any summer wardrobe should be a simple shift style dress.

Shift-style dresses help you to keep cool by having the least amount of fabric touching your body. They rest on your shoulders but then just sort of skim the rest and hopefully you’ll get a bit of breeze and keep as cool as possible.

The simple styling of the dress also allows you to easily lengthen or shorten it as needed. Simply continue the side seams on in a straight line ass needed if your little girl prefers a longer dress or is taller.

You then just have to decide the style of print you want to use. The designer in this example used a center embellishment to break up the flat plane of the front. Adding a wide band of lace, lines of ribbon, or other embellishments certainly can give a plain dress a very designer look.

With the huge range of cotton prints and dress fabrics available, you could easily build up an entire summer wardrobe with this simple pattern. After the first one, it would sew up really quickly! Try a soft rayon in a pretty print, or a super cool linen for the hottest days.

This free pattern is currently only available in sizes 3-6.
