{EDIT – sadly the download link for this pattern no longer works. We have written to the blogger to hopefully get an update, and will update here when there is a new link available. SORRY!}
This is the Surfer Tank Top sewing pattern from the designer Silo & Sage. This FREE pattern comes in sizes 3 to 6.
The vast majority of designers of kid’s clothes actually concentrate on girl and baby patterns. Not many spend any time designing patterns for boys. However, Jess from Silo & Sage loves sewing for boys, helped by the fact she has five boys of her own.
The Surfer Tank has been drafted for boys, however, Jess says you may find it appropriate for your girls too!
This project is a pretty quick sew. Jess sewed three tanks, as well as three pairs of shorts in a day and a half while also looking after her five boys in the process.
This Surfer Tank Top is absolutely perfect for those summer months in particular. They are great to wear on those hot and humid days when boys and girls are ready for summer fun!
Jess says for this pattern, you’ll want to use a knit fabric that isn’t super thin. While that’s comfortable to wear, that can make the binding trickier to sew, so she doesn’t recommend it. Because the tank is a slightly looser fit, you can use a knit that has between 10-30% stretch. You can use ribbing for the bindings, but she likes to use a fabric that’s similar to what the tank is made of.
