Gym and Dance Shrug FREE sewing pattern (Sizes 2 to 14)
This is the Gym and Dance Shrug FREE pdf sewing pattern from the designer Treasurie.
It will be great to make one of these Shrugs for your little dancer. It will help keep her warm and cozy in style!
The designer describes her FREE Shrug sewing pattern as really easy to make and a great beginner stretch fabric project. If your little girl needs to keep warm at gym or dance class then why not make her a classic Shrug – it’ll definitely keep her warm.
As long as you can use a regular sewing machine and be able to sew a simple zig-zag stitch then this pattern will be perfect for you. The designer says that you will be amazed how much money you will save once you can sew your own dancewear!
The Gym and Dance Shrug comes in THIRTEEN sizes from 2 to 14 as follows:
What’s needed to make a Gym and Dance Shrug:
- ½ yard (0.45 m) of 60″ (150 cm) wide stretch fabric,
- ¼” (6 mm) swimwear elastic. You should use 1 yard (0.90 m) for sizes 2 to 8 and 1¼ yards (1.15 m) for sizes 9 to 14,
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine that can do zig-zag.
You should make sure that your stretch fabric has at least a 75% stretch factor in both directions. These fabrics can also be called dance fabric, swimwear fabric, 4-way stretch, or 2-way stretch. A cotton/Lycra blend makes a really nice shrug sewing pattern. The Lycra content will help it keep its stretch after energetic moves and multiple washes.
Swimwear elastic is good quality, firm woven elastic that won’t rot with sweat. It’s important that you don’t use cheap stretchy elastic as they generally give a stretched-out look to the edge of your shrug.
This pattern includes ¼” (6 mm) seam allowances so you don’t need to adjust your pieces.
It’s important to note that the pattern has printable pattern pieces only. The written instructions to make this lovely Gym and Dance Shrug can be found on the designer’s blog which you can find HERE.
