Girls Pinafore FREE sewing pattern and tutorial (size 5/6)
|This is the Girls Pinafore FREE sewing pattern and tutorial from the designer Sew Simple Home.
The designer made this pattern for her daughter whose Kindergarten was having a fairy-tale ball. Her daughter wanted to be Goldilocks and wear a dress. The designer looked far and wide for inspiration and finally decided to go with a simple pinafore pattern and a circle dress.
She wanted it to be a usable outfit, not just for dress-up or a costume, and she had a stash of fabrics and in fact had fabrics available for upcycling. She had access to a large bin of her grandmother’s old clothing.
She used a button-up top her grandmother used to wear. It had the cutest embroidered flowers across the chest and was perfect for her pinafore fabric.
- 1 yard of main fabric in cotton or non-stretch fabric or upcycled top,
- 1/2 a yard of lining fabric,
- Two snaps or buttons,
- Matching thread,
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
This tutorial is for a size 5/6 Pinafore. However, you can easily adapt it to fit your needs. Just take your favorite dress pattern and use the measurements from the skirt to decide how much fabric you might need for the skirt.
