Cat Backpack FREE sewing pattern
|Most little ones love kittens and cats so this is a great project to make them their very own Cat Backpack. What little girl or boy doesn’t love to have their very own backpack? And if they love cats then all the better.
And as a real bonus the generous designer, Sew Much Ado, are giving us all the Cat Backpack pattern for free. Why not make one and give it as a purrrfect surprise for any little kitty lover in your life!
Having their own backpack is great for little ones as they can carry around all their favorite things, and if they have it in their bag then you’ll have more space in yours.
The designer is a real fan of Pellon Flex-Foam which she used in making this backpack. The backpack keeps its shape on its own, while still remaining soft. She was worried about the thickness, especially in seam allowances, She used the sew-in version but there are also one and two-sided fusible options. Although it has great body, it is also very condensable and sews like a dream.
What you will need to make a Cat Backpack:-
- 3/4 of a yard of 45” wide woven fabric such as cotton, denim, corduroy, etc for the main fabric,
- 1-yard of 45” wide light to mid-weight woven fabric for the contrast/lining fabric,
- 2 yards of fusible lightweight interfacing. 20″ wide Pellon SF101 is a good choice,
- 1yard of Pellon Flex-Foam (sew-in). You can substitute for Pellon 987F Fusible Fleece. It will give the backpack body, but will not keep its shape as well as Flex-Foam),
- One 14” or longer non-separating zipper,
- Four 1 ¼” – 1 ½” wide D-rings,
- Wonder Tape (optional),
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
