Sun Dress FREE sewing pattern (0-24 months)
|This is the Sun Dress FREE sewing pattern from the designer DIY Crush.
If you like to sew paneled sun dresses for your little girls then this is a fabulous one! The designer shows you how you can easily increase the number of the panels using this awesome free pattern.
This dress is easy to sew and this is a great project to use up fabric scraps and remnants.
It’s the perfect summer time dress .This paneled sun dress uses four panels instead of the three mentioned panels in the original paneled sun dress pattern post from the designer.
The designer says as with all stripwork or paneled designs, determine how wide you want your panels to be. The best is between two to six inches depending on size. The designer chose four panels this time because that was all she had left of this amazing fabric (Jennifer Paganelli fabric from the Eliza collection).
She cut each of her four panels to 4.5″ wide, compared to the original tutorial that instructs to cut three panels at 5.5″. Ultimately, once sewn together it yielded about the exact dress width of 15″. That was for a size 24-months. You can always increase the width, cut wider panels or more panels in order to make a bigger dress. This style dress is very easy to upsize. As for the armhole template, simply extend them on top to make them taller.
