Lowland Hoodie FREE sewing pattern (12mths-9/10)
Here’s a FREE sewing pattern for the Lowland Hoodie. The Lowland Hoodie is a fairly simple hoodie to sew. The designer, Lowland Kids, has added a few options including a crossover hood or a Henley hood combo. It also comes with a fun kangaroo pocket that is sewn into the waistband.
This fabulous hoodie goes really well with all of the lowland pant patterns with the best watches being with the joggers, slant pocket skinnies, and lounge sweats.
The designer rates her pattern as suitable for a beginner/ advanced beginner sewer. If you are new to sewing with binding or you want to know how to sew the Henley then the designer has video tutorials that you can watch on her website.
The pattern comes in lots of sizes from newborn to 9/10.
As far as which fabric you should use for this project the designer loves to use French Terry. You can make the hoodie using any knit but the drape and fit might be a little different. For the binding, you can use the same fabric as the body or a coordinating color of ribbing or other knit fabric. Stretch won’t matter too much since it doesn’t need to be stretched in order to go over the head.
You will need ½ a yard of fabric for the newborn to 12-month patterns, 1-yard for the 12 months to 4T, 1 ½ yards for the 5T to 9/10 patterns.
