It’s comfy and sensory-friendly, with all seams worked on the outside to avoid irritation. A soft collar (no interfacing) and the option for Velcro instead of buttons ensures complete comfort.

With its classic Hawaiian shirt styling, and featuring a fun tropical print fabric, your child will look and feel great no matter where their summer adventures take them!

You can make it in tropical fabric or any fabric of your choice.

The designer rates her sewing project as suitable for intermediate sewists.

The Kids Hawaiian Shirt Pattern has various features for your Sensory Child as follows:

  1. External seams.
  2. The option for Velcro instead of buttons.
  3. A soft collar.
  4. A loose fit – great for wearing over a T shirt or Compression Shirt.

What’s needed to make a Kid’s Hawaiian Shirt:-

  1. Any Shirt weight fabric such as cotton poplin 112 cm wide by – 100 (125,150,150,150,150,150,150) cm.
  2. Three or four buttons OR stick on Velcro,
  3. Matching polyester sewing thread (good quality),
  4. Sewing kit including a straight stitch sewing machine.

The designer says the fabrics used in the pictures is cotton poplin but you can use any shirt weight fabric.

The pdf pattern includes the pattern to print at home on A4 or US Letter paper, the pattern on A0 size paper to print at your copy shop and the pattern for use with a projector. There are also complete photo instructions for each step of the project.
