|
This is the Evie Dress pdf sewing pattern from the designer Paper Doll Pattern Co.
This easy-fitting dress with a round neck has a lot of excellent features including a gathered skirt at the empire waist, ruffled bodice, and back button closure. You can make this dress with long sleeves with elasticated cuffs or sleeveless. Self-bias binding finishes the armholes and neckline.
The designer rates her project as suitable for an intermediate sewer or an experienced beginner who is ready to level up.
As far as the sewing techniques that are needed to successfully complete this dress the designer says that you’ll sew baby hem ruffle edges, self-bias bound armholes, and neckline, back button placket, double turned sleeve cuffs to create a channel for the elastic and double neatened skirt hem. The rest of the garment is made up of straight stitching, gathering, and overlocked seam allowances.
The designer recommends the following fabrics for her Evie Dress – light to medium weight linen, cotton lawn, cotton or rayon poplin, double cotton gauze.
The pattern comes in TEN sizes from 6-9 months to 8 years as follows:
- 6-9 months,
- 9-12 months,
- 1 year,
- 2 years,
- 3 years,
- 4 years,
- 5 years,
- 6 years,
- 7 years,
- 8 years.
The designer has quite a lot to say as regards sizing. As a general rule, you should choose the size that corresponds with the age of the child. The patterns are designed to fit an above-average-sized child (around the 75th percentile) for the year that matches their age. For example, if the child is an above-average-sized 18-month-old, a size 1 year will still have some room to grow. In most cases, there is no need to size up unless the child is at the very top end of the growth charts. If the child is small, do consider sizing down, or expect that the fit will be generous.
The downloadable pdf pattern can be printed at home on A4 or US letter. The download includes an A0 file. The photo sewing instructions are for straight stitched and overlocked (serged) seams.
