Chicka Chicka Bum Bums sewing pattern (preemie to 12 years)

Yet again this awesome designer peek-a-boo pattern shop has given you one pattern that makes lots of different versions of her project.

This is the Chicka Chicka Bum Bums sewing pattern, where you can make a set of bummies, a set of shorties or a skirt version.

When making these Chicka Chicka Bum Bums the designer recommends that you choose a knit fabric with at least 50% stretch (jersey, interlock, cotton lycra, French terry, etc). If you choose a fabric with less of a stretch than 50% you may want to go up one size.

And the very talented YouTuber MySewBliss has produced two free video tutorials for these Chicka Chicka Bum Bums. The first one below, for 14-minutes, shows you how to make a pair of bummies and a pair of shorties.

While the second one for 9-minutes shows you how to make the skirt version of the Chicka Chicka Bum Bums.

What you will need to make a some Chicka Chicka Bum Bums:-

  • 3/8 of a yard of main fabric,
  • 1/8 of a yard of fabric for the leg bands,
  • 1/8 to 3/8 of a yard of fabric for the waistband depending on size and whether you choose the standard or yoga option,
  • 1/4 to 1/2 a yard of fabric for the skirt depending on size,
  • 3/4″ elastic (optional),
  • 10″ cording (optional),
  • Basic sewing supplies,
  • A sewing machine.
