This is the Baby Shorts + Bloomers FREE sewing pattern from the designer Heather Handmade.
The designer loves bloomers and her daughter wears them as shorts all the time. She loves bloomers paired with tunics, but she also loves some basic shorts to go with her basic tee shirts.
When making these Baby Shorts and Baby Bloomers the designer has actually used recycled fabrics! For example, you can reuse the hem of any shirt for a fast sewing project!
And if you look at the picture which shows two bloomers and four pairs of shorts then both bloomers were made with tee shirts while the denim shorts were made from a cut-off of pants. The white shorts were made from the hem of a white embroidered tunic.
This Baby Shorts and Baby Bloomers sewing pattern comes in five sizes as follows:
- 3 months,
- 6 months,
- 9 months,
- 12 months,
- 18 months.

For these shorts, the designer says you can use jeans, pants, a t-shirt, and a woven or knit dress. They work with almost anything. You get to reuse the hem so make sure the hem is intact.
What’s needed to make Baby Shorts or Bloomers:-
- Hem area of pants, shorts, or a tee-shirt,
- 1/4 inch elastic for the hem,
- 3/4 inch elastic for the waist,
- Basic sewing supplies,
- A sewing machine.
